BONUSES & INCENTIVES
In an effort to recruit and hire only the best men and women to wear the badge, the New Orleans Police & Justice Foundation sponsors the bonus program listed below.
$500 BONUS
To qualify for a $500 bonus, current New Orleans’ police officers must bring (in person) a potential recruit to the New Orleans Police & Justice Foundation at 400 Poydras Street, Suite 2105. Once there, the officer and the recruit will be asked to fill out a bonus form. A copy of the bonus form will be used as a receipt to collect the bonus once the recruit has graduated from the Police Academy.
$5,000 BONUS
A $5,000 bonus is available to “lateral transfers.” A lateral transfer is a police officer from another parish or state who is already trained and certified. $2,500 of the bonus will be paid to the police officer once he has been assigned to an NOPD district or division. The remainder of the bonus will be awarded to the officer upon successful completion of the one-year probationary period.
BONUSES BASED ON HIGHER EDUCATION
At the New Orleans Police Department, we encourage our officers to continue their education. Officers who wish to enroll in a college program will receive subsidized college tuition through the New Orleans Police & Justice Foundation.
